Built in the early 19th century, this mansion was home for generations to the Auchinleck family, later known as the Darlings through inheritance. The family had strong military ties. Major Auchinleck retired here after army service, while his grandson, Captain Daniel George Harold Auchinleck of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, was killed at Ypres in 1914.
