One-to-One Basic Photography Lessons..

Over the years, I’ve met so many people who own DSLR cameras but admit they don’t actually know how to use them properly.

They’ve bought the camera with the best intentions, taken it out a few times, and then ended up leaving it on Auto because all the settings feel a bit overwhelming. Aperture, shutter speed, ISO, focus modes it can sound far more complicated than it really needs to be.

That’s one of the reasons I decided to start offering one-to-one beginner photography lessons.

I wanted to create something relaxed, practical and easy to understand, without the pressure of sitting in a classroom or trying to keep up with a larger group. The idea is simply to get out in the field, use your own camera and learn by actually taking photographs.

Photography is something that becomes much easier once you understand the basics and see how the settings affect the image in front of you. I’ll explain things in plain language, help you get off Auto Mode, and show you how to start taking control of your camera with confidence.

The course will be spread over two three-hour sessions, giving you time to take in what you’ve learned, practise between sessions and then come back with questions.

We’ll look at things like aperture, shutter speed, ISO, focusing, composition, natural light and how to make the most of the equipment you already have.

Because it’s one-to-one, the sessions can be tailored around you, your camera and the type of photography you’re interested in.

For me, the best way to learn photography has always been by doing it, so these won’t be classroom-based lessons. We’ll be out in the field, working in interesting locations and learning in real situations.

If you’ve had a camera sitting in a cupboard because you’re not quite sure what all the buttons do, or you’re tired of relying on Auto Mode, this course is aimed at you.

I’m currently offering the full six hours of private tuition for an introductory price of £245.

Sometimes you don’t need a better camera.

You just need to know what the one you already have can do.
